Spanish guard/wing Alex Bellver arrives in Ballincollig with an impressive basketball pedigree, having spent the majority of his development within the renowned Valencia Basket system. The 1.95m Valencia native progressed through the club’s academy and went on to make his senior Liga ACB debut for Valencia Basket during the 2021/22 season. Bellver has also been involved with Spain at U22 level and has built considerable experience in Spain’s Segunda FEB/LEB Plata, representing Valencia’s affiliated sides as well as Huelva and Huesca.

A versatile perimeter player, Alex brings size, toughness and experience to The Village. Comfortable playing at both shooting guard and on the wing, he can stretch the floor from three, attack the basket and contribute on both ends of the court. His versatility was evident throughout his development in Spain, where he established a reputation as an all-round player capable of scoring, creating and defending. Last season he returned to the Valencia Basket setup with CB L’Horta Godella, competing in Spain’s Segunda FEB and helping the team reach the promotion playoffs.

Alex has wasted little time making his mark in Ireland. He scored 13 points, including three three-pointers, on his National League debut, before following that up with a double-double against Limerick Eagles. Through Ballincollig’s opening two league games, Bellver leads the team with 31 points, an encouraging start from one of the newest members of the defending champions. With his experience, competitiveness and ability to impact the game in different ways, Alex looks set to be an exciting addition to Ballincollig this season.
